Complex Maldaresti Museum

Hello everyone

As you already know during our day in Lapusata, we went to visit the Maldaresti Museum.
This Complex holds two manors of a memorial house, Greceanu and Maldarescu, a memorial house I.G. Duca and another structure, styled like a fortified manor for defense against enemies.

Perfect Day - part 2

Hello everyone

On the 27th of May we were invited by the Scoala cu classe I-VII Lapusata to spend the day with them and make some activities with the children there.
We weren't prepared for all the surprises of that day.

We gathered at ten with the teachers and the principal of the school. They had rented a mini bus specially to take us in this trip.

Lapusata is a village around 50km away from Ramnicu Valcea in the middle of a rural area in the mountains. When we arrived we were welcomed like royalty. All the teachers were there waiting to meet us.

As you can see we received a lot of gifts from the children. One of the surprises from that day was a performance from the boys in the school. They presented us with a traditional dance that is only performed by boys, Calusarii, the dance of the Horseman.

After our activities with the children, the teachers had yet another surprise.
A magnificent banquet prepared by them specially for us. We could not feel more welcome.

This lunch was simply perfect. We had a lot of traditional Romanian food and drinks, like sarmale, salata de vinete, placinta de malai, caltabos, oua rosi and tsuica, visinata and socata. All was made by the teachers specially for us.

Thank you so much for everything. We were very humbled by what you did for all of us that day.

And as if all this was not enough, the school arranged a visit to the Museum of Maldaresti. A complex of manors from the XVIII, XIX and early XX century, where one of the Prime Ministers of Romania lived.

Once again thank you so much for what you did for us. It was a wonderful experience to spend this day with all of you.

And we hope we can do it again.

Perfect Day

Hello everyone

On the 22nd of May, some of our volunteers had a wonderful experience in the rural side of Rm Valcea.

Being honest this was a hard day for us at the beginning. The day in the school was not so good, we had a few arguments with the children and the mood was a bit heavy.

But after school we went to see some ruins at the Buridava Romana Stolniceni, a small space with some roman ruins.

It was a very small place. And unfortunately it was not well taken cared of.

After this it was time to go home. Or so we thought. One of our volunteers wanted to make a surprise for someone special to him, so when we passed by a house with beautiful roses we decided to ask if he could take one flower to give to his girlfriend.

Yes!!That was the end result of "one" flower.

In this adventure we met the Popa family. Maria and Gheorge are the parents and owners of a big rural house that has all to sustain it self.

As you all can see they welcomed us to a big feast. It started with just a glass of Fanta, it was updated to coffee, when we noticed we were having lunch in their house with all these typical delicious food.

This was a really great and humbling experience for us. We had the opportunity to feel true Romanian hospitality and warmth.

We were also invited to come back and spend some relaxing moments by the river, ride the boat and fishing.

We would like to tell them that we are very grateful that you invited us and for this very special day.

To all the Popa family a big big thank you.
